Wireless (also known as Wi-Fi or WLAN) settings
Easy Net Switch supports wireless (Wi-Fi) settings by using the Windows system native API. The WiFi function works under only Windows XP (SP2 and above) and Windows Vista currently.
Following types of WiFi network are supported by current version of Easy Net Switch.
Authentication mode: Open, Shared, WPA, WPA-PSK, WPA2, WPA2-PSK
Data Encryption: Disabled, WEP, TKIP, AES
If you want to use Easy Net Switch to change the wireless setting during applying profiles, please enable the Windows to manage the wireless network adapters as below.
Please note, if you are using other tools to manage your wireless network adapters currently (for example: the wireless management program provided by the manufactory of your wireless adapter), you may not be able to enable the above option. You have to disable that tool first before enable Windows to configure the wireless settings.
There are three places in Easy Net Switch related to the wireless settings.
1. In the Option settings of Easy Net Switch, enable Start Windows buildin WiFi service when needed will allow Easy Net Switch to check and start the Windows wireless service automatically when activate the profile which contains WiFi settings, no need administrative privileges.
2. In the Import & Export, Easy Net Switch allows you to backup, add (setup) and share wireless network settings easily.
3. In the Network component, if selected network adapter is a WiFi network adapter, you can click the Wireless button to modify the wireless settings for this adapter in the profile. By click the
button, Easy Net Switch can capture the WiFi settings from current avaliable wireless network or Windows saved preferred network. By choosing the Advanced settings according to the requirments, you can gain more control during setup the wireless network than using Windows buildin interface.
Note: In some cases, the selected WiFi adapter may not be recognised by Easy Net Switch due to the incompatible drivers. But if you want to try to use the Easy Net Switch to manage the WiFi settings, please first check if you have enabled the Windows to manage your WiFi adapters above, then you can try to enable the Allow Force WiFi Adapter Selection. But be careful, you should use this option only you know the selected adapter is a Wi-Fi adapter.
For example: If you have different WiFi settings under different locations, but both network use same SSID name. Windows XP buildin tool cannot handle this situation very well, but with Easy Net Switch, if you enable Always use following WiFi settings (instead of auto-detection), it can overwrite Windows settings when you apply each profiles.
Easy Net Switch also provides the most flexible method to input the network key for WEP (or passphrase for WPA and WPA2). You can config it to prompt everytime for the network key or apply pre-defined key silently.
Easy Net Switch also provides an easiest and flexible way to backup or share the WiFi setting between different computers. It's quite useful for the network administrators to distribute the WiFi settings to all users.
